While I sent an email regarding Halloween and Itaewon yesterday, I'm deeply sorry to share this heartbreaking news.

Yesterday night, at least 151 people died and more than 82 were injured in a crowd crush in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, central Seoul. 

Around 100,000 people were in the Itaewon district throughout yesterday. It was way more crowded because it was the first Halloween weekend without mask and social distancing measures since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As huge crowds pushed into the neighborhood to celebrate, there was a crush.

Today, the South Korea government declared the national mourning period over the Itaewon tragedy. May their souls rest in eternal peace.
