특히, 코로나 엔데믹으로 마스크를 벗으면서 입냄새, 미백 등을 앞세운 프리미엄 치약에 수요가 몰리고 있다.

글로벌 덴탈업체인 스트라우만은 최근 4분기 실적 컨퍼런스콜에서 “중국에서 VBP 가격 인하 영향을 수량(Q) 성장으로 상쇄하는 것이 확인됐다”면서 올해 중국 매출이 최대 20% 성장할 것으로 전망했다.

한국 임플란트 기업 메가젠이 튀르키예에 공장 설립을 결정했다.
초기 투자로 1500만 달러를 들이고, 5년 내에 총 투자액을 1억 달러로 늘릴 계획이다. 메가젠은 120개국 이상에서 서비스를 제공하는 치과용 임플란트 제조업체로, 이스탄불에 첫 해외 공장을 설립할 예정이다.
박광범 대표는 튀르키예를 선택한 이유로 더 많은 발전 가능성을 꼽았으며, 튀르키예 생산 능력을 바탕으로 유럽 등 다른 국가로 진출할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
이 공장에서는 세계 각지의 치과의사들을 대상으로 교육도 실시할 예정이다.

2024년 3월, 전국 시도치과의사회(이하 지부) 및 공직치과의사회(이하 공직지부) 정기대의원총회 시즌이 도래했다. 지난 2월 시군분회(구회) 총회를 마친 치과계는 3월 전국 지부 총회, 4월 27일 대한치과의사협회(회장 박태근·이하 치협) 정기대의원총회를 앞두고 있다.
3월 전국 지부총회는 경남지부(회장 박성진)가 오는 9일 오후 4시 그랜드 머큐어 앰배서더 창원에서 출발을 알린다. 3월 16일에는 강원지부(회장 김성민)가 오전 11시 30분에 웰리힐리파크에서, 경북지부(회장 염도섭)가 오후 6시에 대구 인터불고호텔, 제주지부(회장 장은식)는 오후 4시 지부회관에서 각각 총회를 개최한다.
3월 넷째 주에는 19일 오후 7시 부산지부(회장 김기원)가 지부회관에서 총회를 개최하며, 같은 시각 대구지부(회장 박세호)는 호텔라온제나에서 대의원들을 맞이할 예정이다.

SEOUL, South Korea: The 2024 International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH), held under the auspices of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH), will take place from 11 to 13 July at the COEX conference and exhibition centre in Seoul.
ISDH 2024, the second of its kind to be held in Asia, will feature the four themes of collaboration, optimisation, reimagination and equality (CORE). Dental hygienists from 32 countries will come together for three days to participate in the in-depth academic symposium on dental hygiene.

Provisional registration proposed for overseas-trained dentists in the UK

National Health Service (NHS) recovery plan to boost the dental workforce and improve patients’ access to care, an open consultation is currently exploring the possibility of simplifying the registration process for overseas-trained dentists in order to enable them to start practising as quickly as possible. The consultation period is set to conclude in mid-May.
Responding to the recently announced proposal, John Makin, head of the Dental Defence Union (DDU), a professional indemnity organisation in the UK, said in a statement: “It’s important that the GDC makes the process of registration for colleagues who qualified overseas as smooth as possible while discharging its key duty, that of ensuring patient safety.”
He pointed out that appropriate supervision of potentially significant numbers of provisionally registered dentists could become challenging. Therefore, the DDU will be carefully reviewing the proposal and assessing the potential risks.
