Over the past few years, cloud computing has become one of the key driving forces behind the evolution of the business environment. By moving resources and data to the cloud, companies can reduce the costs of maintaining their own physical infrastructure and achieve higher efficiency and flexibility that are impossible in other environments. Thanks to the global nature of cloud technology, companies do not need to build separate data centers in every region where they operate, nor do they need to plan their resources well in advance.
I have worked in software development and networking, but seeing how rapidly and extensively this field is changing due to cloud computing, I felt the need to learn new technologies. I believed this would not only benefit my career prospects but also change my perspective on system architecture by acquiring practical knowledge of cloud technologies and obtaining relevant certifications. During my preparation, I relied heavily on online resources, and because I found them extremely useful, I would like to share my experience with those walking the same path.
What is the CLF-C02 exam? How is it different from the CLF-C01 exam?
Obtaining this certification demonstrates a fundamental understanding of AWS cloud services, cloud architecture, security, and AWS's economics and pricing models. Designed as an introductory step for those transitioning to the cloud, this certification is also useful for non-technical professionals in roles such as sales, project management, and product management who need to collaborate with technical teams and communicate more effectively.
The test consists of four sections:
Section 1: Cloud Concepts (24% of scoring items)
Area 2: Security and Compliance (30% of scoring items)
Area 3: Cloud Technology and Services (34% of scoring items)
Section 4: Rates, Pricing, and Support (12% of scoring items)
How is CLF-C02 different from the previous CLF-C01 exam?
New topics such as the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF) have been added, and the emphasis on cloud migration has been further strengthened.

CLF-C02 Exam Preparation
Even if you have no background knowledge of cloud technology, I recommend starting with the official AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials course. This course takes about four hours and explains concepts easily using coffee shop analogies. Since the terminology may feel unfamiliar at first, it is a good idea to write down any terms you do not understand.
After completing this course, you can consider paid Udemy courses that are highly recommended by the community. These courses cover individual services in greater depth and clearly explain the differences between similar services.
After building a solid foundation using these two materials, you can move on to solving problems.
Regarding practice problems, I do not think it is necessary to purchase paid workbooks. There are good materials available for free:
Another important point is that approximately 10 to 15 out of the total 65 questions are not graded. These are new questions tested by AWS to assess their difficulty and appropriateness. Since you cannot know which questions fall into this category during the exam, you must treat every question seriously. Furthermore, relying on rote memorization is not helpful. Understanding the reasoning behind each option is far more important.
AWS CLF-C02 Exam Registration
The exam fee is $100 (USD). AWS sometimes runs promotions offering discount vouchers, so it is recommended to check before registering.
You can take the exam in English or Chinese, and even if you choose Chinese, an English version of each question is provided.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner CLF-C02 Exam Day
Two forms of identification are required at the test center:
- National ID Card
- Passport or credit card with English name
To reduce stress, I decided to take the exam at an accredited Pearson VUE test center instead of online. The process was simple. I arrived at the test center, informed the reception desk that I was an examinee, completed a brief registration process, submitted my electronic devices, and was guided to my designated seat.
The test duration is 100 minutes, and I completed it within 30 minutes. The results are displayed on the screen immediately after submission:
I finally passed.

AWS sends an official verification email within 5 business days, and I received the email on the same day.
