Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I'm the "Environmental Bank" with all the worldwide environmental issues. Nowadays, there are numerous issues arising related to the wildfires in LA. However, since these wildfires are an ongoing issue, I will address this matter once wildfire is completely contained.

Therefore, today, we’ll take a closer look at the topic "New species discovered in 2024".

Three new fishy fungus were discovered in which Russula lapponica was found in the birch, spruce, pine, and elm forests of Lapland, Russula neopascua was found in the high Rockies of Colorado and Montana, and Russula olympiana was discovered in Pacific Northwest coniferous forests. These three fungi species emit a pungent, fishy odor due to trimethylamine compounds and form mutualistic relationships with trees.

4. Pirate Spiders

Pirate spiders invade and take over other spiders' webs, killing the occupants. They usually live in St. Helena , a remote tropical island in the Atlantic. Since they have aggressive characteristics, their behaviors emphasizes the ecological dynamics of predator-prey relationships within spider communities.

5. Ghost Palm

Ghost palm is a rattan palm with white leaf undersides and grey stems, traditionally used for weaving. It is usually found in rainforests of Malaysia and Indonesia. Its eerie appearance inspired the name haunt (, which means ghost in Malay and Indonesian).

Wrap-up

I was glad to hear about these discoveries, as these foundings seem to celebrate life’s richness. Yet we should still be aware that there are numerous endangered species on the other side. Therefore, keeping an eye on both discovered species and endangered species seems to be important in this moment to maintain the ecological balance.
