The topic of the sixth newsletter will focus on examining changes in students' ethical perspectives on media after the final publication of the newspaper.

학생들의 미디어 윤리의식을 살펴보는

사전 설문조사를 실시했답니다!

On the first day of the newspaper club,

I conducted a preliminary survey to assess

students' awareness of media ethics!

그동안의 신문부 활동을 통해

얼마만큼의 인식 변화가 생겼을지 살펴볼게요!

Let’s take a look at how much students' awareness has changed

through their participation in the newspaper club activities!

먼저, 미디어 윤리의식을 알아보기 전,

학생들의 미디어와 얼마나 가까이 닿아있는지 사전 조사가 필요했어요

그랬더니 스마트폰을 소지한 학생들이 절반 이상이었습니다!

Before exploring media ethics,

I needed to conduct a preliminary survey to see

how closely students are connected to media.

It turned out that more than half of the students owned a smartphone!

주로 틱톡을 많이하고,

그 외에는 미디어 플랫폼을 사용하지 않는 학생들이 대부분이었어요.

Most students primarily used TikTok,

with many not engaging with other media platforms.

사용시간을 살펴보면,

매일/ 전혀 사용하지 않는다가 다수로

극과 극을 보여주네요.

Looking at usage time,

most students either used it daily or not at all,

showing a stark contrast.

이제 본격적으로 학생들의 미디어 윤리의식이 변화가 있었는지

살펴보겠습니다!

사전 설문조사 결과

사후 설문조사 결과

"나는 Agenda Setting에 대해 들어봤다"는 동일한 질문에
사전 설문 때는 그렇지않다가 66% 이상이었다면,
사후 설문 때는 그렇다가 77%로 다수를 차지했습니다.

아젠다 세팅 이론이란, 편향된 시선으로 대상을 바라보게끔 설계하여 해당 미디어를 접한 시청자로 하여금 편향된 시각을 가지게 하는 부정적인 이론입니다. 
학생들도 이제는 미디어를 볼 때, 객관적인 시각으로 보려고 노력하겠죠?!

"I have heard about Agenda Setting" was a question asked 
in both pre- and post-surveys. 
In the pre-survey, less than 66% agreed, but in the post-survey, 
this number increased to 77%, showing that most participants agreed.

The Agenda Setting Theory refers to the idea that media can shape viewers' perspectives by presenting topics with a biased angle, leading audiences to adopt a similarly biased viewpoint.

Now, students will likely try harder to view media from a more objective perspective, right?

"나는 인터넷과 SNS 속 잘못된 결과나 정보가 있음을 알고있다"는 
동일한 질문에
사전 설문 때는 그렇지않다가 44% 이상이었다면,
사후 설문 때는 그렇다가 77%로 다수를 차지했습니다.

이젠 대부분의 학생들이 인터넷 속 정보를 모두 신뢰해서는 안된다고
알게 되었네요!

More students now understand that they should not trust all information on the internet and social media. 
In a survey before the program, only 44% agreed that there is false or misleading information online. 
However, after the program, 77% agreed. 

This survey that most students have learned an important lesson about thinking critically online!

"나는 드라마 등 정당한 값을 지불하고 시청해야한다"는 
동일한 질문에
사전 설문 때는 그렇다와 매우 그렇다가 다수를 차지했다면
사후 설문 때는 매우 그렇다가 70% 이상으로 다수를 차지했습니다.

학생들이 이제는 드라마 등을 제작할 때 얼마나 많은 비용이 들어가고, 그 값을 지불해야하는지 이유를 알게된 것같네요!

Students now understand why it is important to pay for watching dramas and other content. 
Before the program, most agreed with the statement, “I should pay to watch dramas legally.” 
After the education, over 70% strongly agreed. 

This survey that students have learned how much effort and cost go into creating these works and why paying for them matters!
