Quick Summary
- The first step towards Climate-Smart Agriculture in Tay Ninh, Vietnam
- Thanks Carbon secures a spot in Samsung's C-Lab Outside startup program.
Exciting news to kick off 2025!
Tay Ninh Province, in southern Vietnam—famous for its delicious Banh Trang—has taken its first step towards Climate-Smart Agriculture in collaboration with Thanks Carbon Vina.
On January 9th, the Tay Ninh Province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development oversaw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Tay Ninh Provincial Agricultural Extension Center (PAEC) and Thanks Carbon Vina.
Through this partnership, the conventional practice of continuous flooding in rice farming will be replaced with AWD (Alternate Wetting & Drying). By intermittently draining and refilling the fields, the approach aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while increasing rice yields. In the winter-spring season, a 30-60ha pilot will be conducted for testing and evaluation, with plans to expand the project up to 25,200-42,000 hectares.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Thanks Carbon Vina as we expand our sustainable agriculture projects across Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey towards sustainable agricultural practices!

Thanks Carbon INC has proposed implementing the "Application of AWD for Low-Carbon Rice Production in Sustainable Agriculture" project in Tay Ninh Province from 2024 to 2034, targeting 20 dry-season harvests.
The project will be conducted across Chau Thanh, Go Dau, Ben Cau, and Trang Bang, covering an estimated area of 42,000 hectares.
Over the next decade, the initiative is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 2.9 million tons. According to the Gold Standard, this translates to an annual reduction of 6.97 tons of CO₂ per hectare."Big benefits from reducing methane emissions in rice fields", Tay Ninh Online, Oct 1, 2024
2025 is shaping up to be another milestone year for Thanks Carbon.
Last year, we were selected for both the SKT ESG KOREA and LG Social Campus programs, which provided valuable support for our growth. As a result, SK Telecom issued a letter of intent to purchase our Haimdall service once its advanced version is ready, and we’ve been working with LG Chem since 2023 on a seagrass habitat restoration and research project aimed at protecting marine environments.
In the beginning of 2025, Thanks Carbon is thrilled to have been selected for Samsung’s C-Lab Outside startup program, which will open up exciting opportunities for education and partnerships.
In addition, we continue to work on carbon credit projects through Nature-based Solutions (NbS), including our Rice Methane Emission Reduction Project and REDD+ Project (Reducing Deforestation and Forest Degradation). This year, we look forward to collaborating with new partners such as Korea Environment Corporation, the Korea Forest Service, and various enterprises to discover and develop large-scale carbon emission reduction projects that contribute to overcoming the climate crisis.
We’re excited for what’s to come and invite you to join us on this journey toward climate solutions. Thank you for your continued support!
