Introduction: Passage of Waste Management Law Amendment Environment Subcommittee

With the completion of the National Assembly's constituency formation, the legislature is actively engaged. In particular, the Environment and Labor Committee has convened its subcommittee on legislative scrutiny.

On July 11, 2024, at the first session of the Environment and Labor Committee's Environment Legislation Scrutiny Subcommittee, members Kang Deok-gu, Kim Ju-young, Park Jung, Park Hae-cheol, Kim Hyeong-dong, Kim So-hee, and Cho Ji-yeon attended to review the partial amendment bill to the Waste Management Act, proposed by Representative Park Hong-bae.

The Waste Management Act was modified and approved based on alternative discussions and reports from expert panels.

1. Key Contents of the Bill

The partial amendment bill to the Waste Management Act mandates transparency for cement manufacturers regarding the types, origins, and components of waste used in cement production, with provisions for sanctions against non-disclosure or false disclosure.
