But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Philippians 1:18
Start at Trinidad & Tobago
I hope everyone is doing well. I’ve heard that it’s quite cold in Korea these days. I miss starting my days with a warm cup of tea in the mornings. Even though the weather there is cold, I pray that you are all staying healthy. I also want to let you know that I am always thinking of you and praying for you here.
As the new year begins, my heart is filled with warmth and gratitude more than ever before. In particular, spending this Christmas and New Year's with Logos Hope was truly a special experience. Praying and singing with the many people I met aboard the ship, I could deeply feel that God is with all of us. Christmas here wasn’t just a special day, but a time to share God’s love, encourage one another, and pray together, making it even more valuable and meaningful.
It has already been 8 months since I arrived on Logos Hope. This time has passed so quickly, and the journey so far has taught me a lot. On the path of missions, there are unexpected difficulties, but it has also been a time to experience how God works and His grace. Working alongside people from various cultures, I have learned the importance of sharing God’s love and hope while understanding each person’s language and traditions.
Among the people I’ve met here, many have been living without losing hope even in difficult situations. Through their lives, I have gained much insight and have become more deeply convinced that God is always working in our lives. Listening to their stories and faith, I was reminded once again of how strong and deep God’s love is.
Through mission work, I’ve had countless moments to encounter God. Every day, as I meditate on prayer and Scripture, I’ve spent much time reflecting on how God is guiding my life and what His will is. Through this process, my faith has become stronger, and my trust in God has deepened. Moreover, through meeting various people, I’ve learned more about how God works. All of this is a great blessing and God’s grace, which I confess.
Through my ministry here, I’ve also been reminded of the meaning of 'service'. Even in small things, serving people and sharing God’s love with them has become so important to me. Through service, I have come to understand that sharing true love opens the hearts of others, and this love ultimately becomes the key to unlocking their hearts. These experiences have provided me with great opportunities for spiritual growth, and I continue to pray that I can follow wherever God leads me.
Thank you so much for praying for me. Because of your prayers, I am able to continue on this path and fulfill the mission God has entrusted to me. I also pray that you, along with me, will continue to seek and accomplish God’s will in your lives. I confess that this entire journey is by God’s grace, and I wish to move forward with joy and gratitude.
Thanks to your prayers and support, I can continue sharing God’s love and spreading His gospel here. With the confidence that no difficulty can overcome us when we are with God, I am living each day, offering it to Him.
Bread's Baking Class
This time, I had a truly enriching experience during the baking class. What made it even more special was the opportunity to work with the Vision Team from Australia, who came aboard the Logos Hope ship. Meeting new people felt incredibly precious. It was amazing to gather people from various backgrounds, praise God together, share our cultures, and learn many valuable lessons from one another.
Through this opportunity, I began a collaborative project with the Logos Hope crew members and the Australian Vision Team, and our first activity was baking bread. Through this activity, what we shared was not just bread, but our hearts and love for one another. As we worked together to make the bread, I was reminded of the true meaning of community and the value of serving one another.
This project had a deeper meaning than just a baking class. It was a time to share how God is working in each of our lives, how we can encourage and support each other, and how to put that love into practice. As we made the bread, conversations flowed naturally, and we shared our personal stories and prayer requests, which led to a sincere interest in each other's lives. Just as the bread we made together rose, I prayed that God's love would rise within us and spread to others.
Through this experience, I was reminded once again of how great God's grace is in bringing people from different walks of life together and allowing us to serve alongside each other. I hope that through this project, I can make the most of the opportunities God has given me to share His love with more people, to share our lives, and to create opportunities to spread His gospel.
Bread's Baking Ministry
In this baking ministry, I had the role of team leader and, together with the team members, we invited locals to Logos Hope and spent time baking bread. In this process, it was not just about baking bread, but also sharing our testimonies and exchanging our faith. Through these testimonies, we were able to share how God has worked in our lives, and we experienced His grace and love.
Additionally, we took time to sing praises and offer thanks to God. Through worship, we were able to come together with one heart and one mind to worship God, and that experience made the time even more meaningful.
During this time, I shared why I started baking and how I experienced God’s guidance throughout the process. I emphasized that baking is not just a skill but can be a tool to communicate with people and convey God’s love to them. Through this, I was able to naturally share the gospel, and while baking, I expressed my desire to spread God's word.
This ministry followed God’s leading, and it was a precious time where many people participated and experienced God’s love and grace more deeply.
First Birthday Party on Logos Hope
This birthday was filled with truly special and touching moments. It was my first birthday celebrated on the Logos Hope ship, and it was such a meaningful time. Thanks to the surprise party that my friends had prepared in advance, it became an unforgettable day. At the party, there were delicious snacks, a warm letter written to me, and thoughtfully prepared gifts. Each moment, seeing my friends pray for me, was so touching, and I could truly feel their warm hearts.
I was also so happy that friends from various countries, all from different backgrounds, celebrated my birthday with me. Though we spoke different languages and had different cultures, the sincere congratulations and attention we showed one another were truly special. Additionally, the video messages sent by friends who had finished their ministry on the ship were another source of emotion. These friends are now serving in different places, but the fact that they remembered my birthday and sent their heartfelt messages gave me great comfort and strength. Each of these moments was so precious and filled with gratitude, and I truly felt loved.
I am so thankful that, in the midst of serving on the ship and in everyday life, I am able to feel the warmth of so many people’s hearts, and I deeply hope that these precious relationships will continue to grow.
Christmas and New Year's on Logos Hope
Spending Christmas and New Year's for the first time on Logos Hope was truly special and an unforgettable experience. While Christmas and New Year's are usually times spent with family or friends, being able to share meaningful moments with people from various countries made it even more unique. For Christmas, we celebrated the birth of Jesus and enjoyed a Christmas dinner and brunch together. During that time, we shared our cultures and celebrated Christmas in our own ways, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Everyone dressed up beautifully, and we commemorated the day as if we were one big family. Especially while preparing for the Christmas drama, there was laughter and deep emotions, and the hearts we shared during that time felt so precious.
New Year's was welcomed in a truly new and refreshing way. We all gathered on the ship's rooftop, shared delicious food, and prepared to greet the new year by sharing stories. As we lit candles and counted down together, we reflected on the time we spent together and welcomed the new year with fresh hope and anticipation. That moment was unforgettable. Everyone celebrated one another, and the joy and laughter during the party made the time incredibly happy. The atmosphere still lingers in my heart.
Spending Christmas and New Year's on Logos Hope was not just an event or holiday; it was a time of sharing hearts and cherishing each other's presence. This special experience with friends from different countries taught me so much, and the moments of unity, despite our differences, were truly beautiful. I believe these memories will stay in my heart for a long time.
Asian Festival
During the Asia Festival on Logos Hope, I had a truly special and meaningful time. It was such a joy to share the beauty of Asia with our friends on Logos Hope through cooking, culture, and praise, with fellow friends from Asia coming together to make it happen. Since our ship mostly has friends from Europe, many of them weren’t familiar with Asian cultures, so it was a great blessing to have the opportunity to introduce them to the diverse cultures of Asia.
We also held our Sunday worship in an Asian style, and in the middle of the service, we shared traditional Asian music and praise, allowing everyone to experience the reverence and warm-heartedness typical of Asian cultures. Through this time, many friends were able to understand the culture and spirit of Asia more deeply, and the moments we shared together were truly meaningful. In addition, we prepared traditional dishes from various Asian countries, including Korea and Japan, and it was very rewarding to introduce each country's unique characteristics and culture.
This festival wasn’t just a cultural exchange; it was a precious time where people from different cultures and backgrounds gathered to share understanding and respect. It was so touching to see how the diverse cultures and traditions of Asia were introduced to so many friends, and how they became more open-hearted towards each other. Singing together, praying, sharing food, and respecting each other's cultures—all of these moments were deeply etched in my heart. Through this experience, I realized what true unity beyond culture and borders is. It was a really precious time, and I hope there will be many more opportunities like this in the future.
Korean Fellowship
This birthday was truly special, as it was accompanied by the arrival of new Korean people on the ship. Through a welcoming event and a Korean Fellowship, I was able to spend a warm time with Korean friends after a long while, cooking and sharing Korean food together. Since everyone on the ship is usually busy with their own activities, we don’t get to meet often, so it was such a joy to gather in one place, share our stories, and enjoy a meal together.
In particular, this fellowship was even more special because there were about 24 Korean friends on the ship. It was a time to share a lot of Korean emotional ties. Although our lives and ministries are different, gathering together to share food and listen to each other's stories was deeply moving. It felt like coming home after a long time, and my heart warmed. The loneliness and longing I had been feeling was somewhat healed.
Even though we all live in different environments, the conversation and laughter shared through our common identity as Koreans deeply touched me. Especially in the confined space of the ship, it was meaningful to see so many Koreans come together with one heart and spend time together. It felt like we were filling in the time we had missed. This fellowship was not just a meal but a time to appreciate each other's presence and draw strength from simply being together. It was a truly grateful time, and I am so happy to have been able to share such moments with everyone.
Experience in a New Department
Lately, while working in the bakery department, I’ve started to feel a bit of stress. The bakery team is tiny, so sometimes I feel the weight of responsibility and pressure. In other departments, there are larger teams that work together to get things done, but in the bakery, I have to handle many tasks on my own, which has built up a lot of pressure in my mind. In this situation, I felt the need to experience a new environment and gain some fresh energy from another department. So, I decided to try a day of work in the engine, welding, and deck departments on the Logos Hope. For me, who was used to making bread and being in the daily routine of the bakery, working in other departments was a completely new challenge and a refreshing experience. It was a great opportunity to have meaningful conversations with friends in a new environment, and I learned a lot by doing tasks that weren’t related to baking. In particular, having hands-on experience in areas I had never worked in before allowed me to see how work flows, how teamwork is achieved, and how communication differs in other departments. What stood out the most is that I really enjoyed the experience. After focusing on tasks that weren’t related to baking for a while, I felt the stress that had been building up in my mind release a little, and I was reminded of how important cooperation with others is. The new challenge in another department gave me a lot of energy and provided an opportunity to reflect on myself from a more objective perspective. Through this experience, I now feel like I can approach my role with a broader outlook and have a more open mind when trying different tasks in the future.
Bread's Street Evangelism
The experience of street evangelism in Tobago was truly a challenging moment. When I tried to share the Gospel, many people didn’t show any interest, and some even didn’t want to listen at all. At times, people would ignore me, and some would even spit at me. Those moments were very tough, and it hurt my heart. It was the first time I deeply realized how difficult the calling of being a missionary can be. Sharing the Gospel is so challenging, and sometimes, the fruits of our efforts are not immediately visible, which was exhausting.
However, even in the midst of those struggles, I tried not to forget the mission God had given me, and I once again realized how important it is to follow His will. Those moments truly tested my faith and made me rely on God. Through the process, I felt deeply how difficult it is for God's Kingdom to break into people's hearts. I learned the depth of how long it can take for someone to open their heart and genuinely receive the message, not just hearing it in words.
Still, despite the difficulties, my desire to share the love God has given me grew even stronger. I realized how crucial it is to fulfill the mission given to me. No matter how difficult or rough the path may be, following God is my calling and the purpose of my life. With the strength and patience God provides, I will continue walking this path, eagerly anticipating the moments when His Kingdom expands.
Next step
In two weeks, we will be heading to Vieux Fort, and I believe the ministry there will be a very important moment for us. As we meet new people and experience a new environment, we will need a lot of preparation and prayer. I sincerely pray that the gospel we share will deeply resonate with the people’s hearts and that God’s love will be communicated to them. Please pray that we all follow God’s guidance and, with His strength, will carry out the ministry well.
I pray that God will lead us and help us bring true peace and hope to the people we meet there. I will continue to pray that all of our journey will be a time that glorifies God. Please keep us in your prayers."
