🖤 《흑조전 : 부재의 흔적과 대지》

빛과 어둠은 그 역할이 있다.

우리는 때때로 이유 없는 시선에 사로잡힙니다.
그저 먼저 보였다는 이유만으로, 의도치 않은 무게를 지니게 되죠.
하지만 그 시선은 오래 머무르지 않습니다. 바람처럼 흩어지고, 남는 것은 결국 내가 살아온 결뿐입니다.

《흑조전》은 네거티브 페인팅과 대지미술을 통해, 부재의 흔적과 순간의 공백으로 존재를 드러냅니다.
“짧지만 무겁게 다가오는 주목의 아이러니”를 대지 위에 남기고, 자연 속에서 사라지게 두는 전시입니다.

흑조는 다른 깃털을 가진 존재로 늘 먼저 눈에 띄지만, 실은 그 시선은 잠시뿐입니다.
저는 이 전시에서 그 “잠시의 무게”를 직접 그리지 않고, 부재와 흔적을 통해 표현하고자 했습니다.

대지 위에 남겨진 공백, 모래의 빈 자리, 숲의 원형 공허, 눈밭의 흠집.
모두 사라질 운명을 안고 있으며, 바로 그 덧없음이야말로 우리가 겪는 시선의 실체와 닮아 있습니다.

흑조는 결국 존재가 아니라, 우리가 스스로를 어떻게 바라보는가의 문제입니다.
시선이 남기고 간 흔적이 아니라, 내 안에 쌓인 결로 삶을 살아가길 바라는 마음을 전합니다.

Artist's Note
We are sometimes caught in a gaze without reason.
Simply because it was seen first, it carries an unintended weight.
But that gaze does not linger long. It scatters like the wind, and what remains is ultimately only the texture of my lived life.

《Black Swan Exhibition》reveals existence through negative painting and land art, using traces of absence and momentary voids.
It is an exhibition that leaves “the irony of attention—brief yet heavy” upon the earth, then lets it fade away within nature.

The black swan, with its different feathers, always catches the eye first, yet that gaze is fleeting.
In this exhibition, I sought to express that “momentary weight” not by painting it directly, but through absence and traces.

The void left on the earth, the empty space in the sand, the circular emptiness in the forest, the scratch in the snowfield.
All bear the fate of vanishing, and it is precisely this transience that mirrors the essence of the gaze we experience.

The black swan is ultimately not about existence, but about how we perceive ourselves.
I worked not with the traces left by the gaze, but with the hope that life might be lived as the condensation gathered within me.

Series 1. 〈스쳐질 형상〉

바닷가 모래 위, 인체의 실루엣만 도려낸 공간.

사람이 사라진 자리지만, 그 부재가 가장 강렬히 보입니다.

시간이 지나면 바람과 파도가 흔적을 지워버리듯, 시선 또한 금세 사라질것입니다.

Series 1. 〈Empty Silhouette on Sand〉

On the beach sand, a space carved out with only the human body's silhouette.

Though the person has vanished, their absence is most intensely visible.

Just as wind and waves erase traces over time, the gaze too vanishes in an instant.

Series 2. 〈Wrap〉

푸른 잔디를 걷어낸 자리에서 흰 흙이 드러납니다.

멀리서 보면 하나의 형상처럼 보이지만, 가까이 다가가면 그저 땅의 밑면일 뿐입니다.

시선은 언제나 드러난 결손에 머뭅니다.

Series 2. 〈Wrap〉

Where the green grass has been cleared away, white soil is exposed.

From afar, it appears as a single form, but up close, it is merely the underside of the earth.

The gaze always lingers on the revealed void.

Series 3. 〈빈공간〉

나무들이 빽빽한 숲 속에, 동그랗게 비워진 원형의 공허.

그 중심은 아무것도 없지만, 오히려 그 빈 원이 시선을 붙잡습니다.

In the dense forest, a circular void stands hollow and round.

Though its center holds nothing, that empty circle captures the gaze.

눈 덮인 평원 위, 일부를 긁어내어 드러난 검은 흙의 선.

순백의 평원보다 결손이 더 도드라져 보입니다.

시선은 결함에만 머물며, 금세 다시 눈으로 덮일 운명을 맞습니다.

Series 4. 〈결손의 밭〉

A line of black earth, scraped away to reveal itself on the snow-covered plain.

The defect stands out more than the pure white plain.

The gaze lingers only on the flaw, destined soon to be covered by snow once more.

Series 5. 〈바위 위의 잔상〉

검은 바위 위에 도려낸 듯, 중심만 비워내어 남긴 윤곽선.

없음이 도리어 형상으로 강렬히 남습니다.

Series 5. 〈Afterimage on the Rock〉

White limestone powder sprinkled over black rock, leaving only the outline by emptying the center.

Absence itself remains intensely as form.

Series 6. 〈호수 위의 빛 없는 영역〉

호수 표면에 부유물을 둬 빛을 반사하지 못하게 만든 원형.

찬란히 빛나는 수면 속에서, 빛 없는 영역이 오히려 눈길을 끕니다.

Series 6. 〈The Lightless Zone on the Lake〉

A circular area created by placing floating objects on the lake surface to prevent light reflection.

Amidst the brilliantly shimmering water, the lightless zone itself draws the eye.

Series 7. 〈사막의 음영〉

끝없는 모래 사막 위, 구조물이 드리운 한 줄기 그림자. 빛의 바다 속, 작은 음영이 모든 풍경을 지배합니다..

Series 7. 〈Shadows of the Desert〉

A single shadow cast by a structure upon the endless sandy desert.

Within a sea of light, a small shadow dominates the entire landscape.

Series 8. 〈흰 대지의 흔적〉

거대한 흰 흙 대지에 일부만 그을려 남은 검은 음영.

대지 전체가 아닌 작은 결손이 관람자의 눈을 사로잡습니다.

시선은 항상 흠집에 머물지만, 결국 바람과 비가 그것마저 지워갑니다.

Series 8. 〈Traces on the White Wall〉

A small black shadow remains, charred onto the vast white clay cliff.

It is not the entire cliff, but this small imperfection that captures the viewer's gaze.

The eye always lingers on the blemish, yet eventually wind and rain erase even that.

전시를 마치며

《흑조전》은 “없음으로써 드러나는 존재”를 탐구하는 전시입니다.

타인의 눈길이 짧게 머무는 순간은 흙 위의 흔적처럼 곧 사라지지만, 내가 살아낸 삶의 결은 대지처럼 묵묵히 남습니다.

괜찮은 삶이 아니라, 좋은 삶. 그건 결국 외부의 눈이 아니라 내가 선택한 방식으로 채워가는 것임을, 이 전시를 통해 느껴보시길 바랍니다.

The Black Swan Exhibition explores “existence revealed through absence.”

The fleeting gaze of others vanishes like traces on the earth,

but the texture of the life I have lived remains steadfastly, like the land itself.

Not just a decent life, but a good life.

Ultimately, it is filled not by external eyes, but by the way I choose to live.
